Car Insurance (also known as Motor Insurance or Auto Insurance) is a contract between a vehicle owner (the policyholder) and an insurance company (the insurer). In exchange for a regular payment called the premium, the insurer promises to provide financial protection against losses resulting from traffic accidents, theft, natural disasters, and liability arising from causing damage or injury to others.
In most jurisdictions, carrying at least a minimum level of car insurance is mandatory by law.
